Gene Franklin, owner of Franklin Farm
Service, learned his craft while working at Cornell Manufacturing and
as a farmer. Living in the Laceyville area and changes at Cornell
Manufacturing led to Gene starting his own shop located on Main
Street in Laceyville fifteen years ago.
Franklin's Farm Service, which started
as a one-man shop, has grown to employing five full-time and one
part-time employees. The services include welding in-house and
on-site and farm related needs such as steel, hose, motors, nuts, and
bolts. They also carry animal feeds and medicines, wild bird feeding
supplies, and items for other wildlife. If you don't see what you're
looking for, just ask, they can order many different items.
In the future, look for an additional
building specifically for extra manufacturing space.
Gene's wife, Sharon, works as a
consultant for the recently merged Grange/Liberty Bank & Trust bank.
Their son, Mark, works in the business with his father. The
Franklin's four year-old granddaughter is Mackenzie.
