The Best of the Father's Day Contest Entries
I am amazed at the depth of feeling that people have
for their parents. It brings tears to my eyes and joy to my heart.
Read below to see what I mean.
MY HERO
by Amber Sheridan
There is not enough paper in this world to be able to
write down how much my dad means to me, so I will just highlight a
few of the reasons why my dad is my hero. He is my hero because he
works hard. My dad has worked for as long as I can remember.
Sometimes I get mad because my dad works so much. Though the second I
get mad I change to being happy again because I know that my dad
works so my family can have a house to live in and food to eat. Even
though my dad works, he can still find time to be with his family.
When times get rough and when it looks like nothing can be done, my
dad does not get scared. He stays brave and does what he can do to
make his family feel secure again. When I am frightened, he comes to
my rescue and tells me something reassuring, so I am not worried
anymore. He was not afraid when we had to move up here from Florida
to start our lives all over again. He was not scared when he had to
find a new job or a new house to live in. my dad stayed brave through
the whole thing. Even when my mom had her doubts about living in a
new place, he stayed courageous. My dad is also one of those few men
who believe that a mans word is worth his weight in gold. If my dad
says he is going to do something, he does it. For example, He told
his friend that he would help him fix his truck. The day came that
the friend needed help. It was snowing and very cold that day, even
though my dad really didn’t want to be out in the weather, he kept
his word and helped his friend in need. If nothing else, my dad is a
very kind and understanding man. My dad, Carl, may not be a famous
ball player, movie star, singer or even an action hero. Though in my
eyes he is that and much more. The word hero has many meanings. A
hero to me is someone who is real, who I can talk to, touch and see
everyday. When people hear the word hero, everyone thinks of
something different. When I hear the word hero I just simply think of
my dad. That is exactly what he is. My special hero.
THANK YOU, DAD

Everyone feels that their father is special in some
way, and mine is special to me in many ways. He has not only
supported me through good times and bad, but he has always been there
for anyone who needed a father figure. My father is the type of
person that feels he is not only a father to his three children, but
to anyone who needs him and he has been there for many. I can
remember growing up with people calling or stopping by our house at
all hours, and no matter the time, he took time for every one of
them. Even times he needed his rest or things he wanted to do, they
were put aside to help out all. He has taught me through my life to
always have a hand extended to anyone who needs it, and I have tried
my best to be like him with my door and heart always open to help. I
feel very honored when anyone says that either I or my son is just
like my father, there really is no greater compliment that could be
given to me. He has always encouraged me to be my own person, which I
am, but I will always choose to have a part of him in me. He has been
there through the good times and through the really bad times, and
never gave up on me. He has taught me to hold my head up, speak the
truth, and never give into anything that I don't believe in. For all
my father has taught me, given me, and the times that he believed in
me all I can say to him is thank you and I love you. Dad, if I could
only teach everyone else to be as giving and caring as you what a
wonderful world it would be to raise our children. Thank You.

I LOVE YOU
by Justine Dickinson
Dickinson" "My father holds a very special place in
my heart. For Father's Day I would like to show him how much he means
to my family and I. Out of all the people in my family I get to see
my father the least. One day out of the year is meant just for all
the fathers in the world. This year I would like to show my father my
appreciation to him and how much I love him.
YOU'RE MY DAD
by Rachel Ludwikowski
When my own birth father didn't want anything to do
with me, My grandfather stepped up to the plate. I truly couldn't
have asked for a better Dad. Poppa was always there to help me with
homework, teach me new things - like using a riding lawn mower. He
was always there to encourage me, advise me, teach me, and love me. I
have always admired his intelligence and calm nature. Nothing ever
seemed to really upset Poppa and he always handled things so
diplomatically. But most of all for being a wonderful father to his
own granddaughter - for helping me become the successful woman I am
and for all my future successes - I thank you - you're the best Dad
in the entire world
THERE'S NO ONE LIKE YOU

THANK YOU FOR CARING
by Debbie Timerman
My father is special because he has always been there
for me whenever I need him. When I wrecked 2 of his cars, he wasn't
worried about the cars; he was worried that I was okay. He never
yelled at me. I love him with all my heart.
YOU'RE THE GREATEST
by Suzi Brewer
Father is my stepfather, but he is the greatest ever.
He is always there for me no matter what. He has been in our family
for over 26 years. He is there when I need a shoulder to cry on, when
I need a little pick me up, when I need doctoring for my little boys,
we have been through a lot together and I would never change a thing,
but most of all, he accepted my Mother’s children with opened arms,
and he has big arms. We love him very much. Happy Father’s Day Dad.
With all the love in the world, Love, Suzi

When Poppy Dick married our Nan he instantly became a
very important person in our family. Poppy is always willing to play
with us, take us out to eat, or read stories, play games, and ride
the four wheeler. We know Poppy is always there whenever we call. He
will drop everything and come to our house. We love our Poppy Dick
with all our hearts.
