French Family History & Genealogy, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania

By Val French Gollahon

A number of my ancestors (great & great, great) were residents of Laceyville and surrounding area and several are buried in Lacey Street Cemetery. The family name is French.

My great grandfather, Edward L. French married (first wife) a Julia Williams in Laceyville in 1885. Julia died a year later after climbing a heavy grade with the horse and wagon. Edward and his father Joseph E. French are both buried at Lacey Street Cemetery as well.

My great, great uncle Nelson W. French and his wife Rosana (Anna) had 9 children and lived in Windham, 1860, Meshoppen 1870-80, and later in Laceyville. Nelson (according to the newspaper notes on the cards) died in Sayre, in 1897 and was an "inventor of a water wheel".

If you can help Val with his research, please email him at jackgollahon@bellsouth.net.
